We Can Help With… Depression

Depression is a common mental health condition that affects approximately one million adults and 100,000 young people in Australia every year. On average, one in four females and one in six males are diagnosed with depression.

We have all felt ‘depressed’ about an argument or falling out with a friend, misunderstandings in our relationships, stress or unhappiness about our job – and sometimes we feel ‘down’ for what seems like no reason at all. People experience a range of depressive symptoms, and can also experience symptoms to a greater or lesser degree than others. Whilst it is normal to feel down or blue at certain times in your life, experiencing depression symptoms for an extended period of time may negatively impact on a number of area’s in your life, such as school, work, and relationships.
